I love her. I don't understand the show because I've never watched it, but she's great.

What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

Haha that was so cute when they had her behind the podium and you couldn't see her!

Behold the power of Kristin!!!
Yes, really. I never ever would have watched the West Wing for anyone else(except Catherine Zeta-Jones and other Broadway Stars).

As a faithful WW watcher, I honestly had a lot of trouble watching her. It'll take some getting used to. I love her, but all I could think was "Glinda's trying to make over the White House."

Thank you Jess! I too am a long time fan of WW, and well as much as I like Ms. C it was a bit to "Galinday" for me.

She just didn't seem to "fit" there. Kind of like a bubbly Ainsley Hayes... I'm not sure how it'll turn out. It would be interesting to hear the opinion of someone who watches the show but doesn't know Kristin. I'll have to ask some of my friends who watched with me.

All my daughter and I could think was... "She's trying to make Toby popular!"

I wish they'd just get through the cliches already

I have to say hearing her talk fast, you don't notice the voice as much. Little disappointed that she still hasn't flexed much of the serious acting muscle, for once, please say something that doesn't get a chuckle as a response. That's not her fault though, that's the writing.

She is a fantastic actress but she's severely typecast. But then again, she's doing very well for herself.

Big night for Broadway on TV:

Cheno on West Wing
Taye on Top Model

and I just saw Billy Porter on Law and Order

Okay, just asked a friend with no Broadway connections...

He said he thinks she's good for the part, since no one is really taking her seriously yet. Toby listens to her, but doesn't respect her.

Then I said "The voice doesn't bother you."

And he said "Oh no, it does, but i guess i see her as that annoying sidekick kind a character."

And side note, was there ever any explanation as to why Ainsley isn't around? Was there an official firing or quitting before they brought Matthew Perry on? Oh, and where has he been? I liked him.

I guess Wicked didn't worm its devious way into my head quite so much, because I wasn't really thinking of it during the episode.

I loved the bit with the podium and a very convenient camera angle, though. :)

No, I don't think they ever mentioned where Ainsley went (I mean, we know - Miami), just that they needed someone to replace her. I liked her, and think that Kristin's character is definitely in the same vein. She didn't bother me, by the by.

Outside of being blonde, I don't really think Ainsley and Chenoweth's character are the same. Hayes was the token Republican; this new character is an image advisor of sorts.

I loved Ainsley. It added a really cool dimension to the show.

Plum--I agree that they're not really the same at all. BUT, I could see where someone would go, well, the blond girl's gone, let's find another one. I just hope they don't use Kristin as "the token blond."

They were similar in that neither was taken seriously because of how they looked, and both change that view with their actions.

True enough.

I wonder if we'll ever get a male character who's treated that way? re: Cheno on Wing

As a longtime WW fan, I'm still not convinced that Kristin is going to fit in. And there's absolutely no connection to Emily Proctor's character leaving and Kristin coming. The Ainsley Hayes character was written out three seasons ago.

Oh, I know. That's why I said on a side note, I just thought about Ainsley and was wondering. I know I said she was kind of like a bubbly Ainsley, but I meant in the, we're missing a blond character kind of way, not as a direct correlation.

erinrebecca, I could not agree more. KC is not a WW person... her character is just in this totally different place than the others.
I mean, the show is completely different from when it started (you know, back when it was fast, and smart and.... GOOD) but she still doesn't fit in.
And something just annoys me. I think it's because she seems to be trying to talk very quietly to disguise the voice---but we all know thats not happening.
I wouldnt have been suprised if she was trying to teach Toby the proper ploys when he talks to boys (press) in the next scene...

this is probably very judgemental on my part, but I'm guessing that not a lot of ppl here are huge fans of Wicked...just a gander

There was one scene where I thought Ms. Chenoweth did a really good job at. It was when she just left Toby's office and was leading him to the podium...when she was walking out the camera just showed a close up of her face and you could see a lot of insecurity in her eyes. It was just one small moment, but in that moment I thought that she did a good job showing that her character really wants to impress Toby and she's trying to find ways where she can prove herself to him.

That's how I saw that one small part anyway.

Sally, I cant speak for others but I like Wicked. I love the cast recording... I thought the show itself was cute (I saw it with JLT). I do like Kristin, she is just not WW-material to me. And I am just bitter about the show not being as good anymore. To me, having her there is kind of the final nail in the coffin. She completely removes me from the WW world when I am watching... I cant get sucked in.
