Maybe I have my facts mixed up, but I thought Cheyenne's character, Mark Bingham, was the passenger who uttered the famous words. "Let's roll!". I thought he was married and had called his wife to say goodbye. It was his wife who overheard those famous words as the call ended.
While browsing through the current edition of THE ADVOCATE, I found that Mark Bingham was actually gay and his mother had outed him right after the 9/11 incident.
Which facts do I have confused?
you're thinking of todd beamer from cranbury, nj.
Don't know.
mark bingham was an openly gay rugby player from san francisco who was the last one onboard the plane. in fact, airline employees had closed the gate as mark, who had been running late, came running up to get on the plane...

Mark Bingham's mother Alice Hoglan did not out him. He was an out gay man long before 9/11. In fact he helped establish the gay rugby team SF Fog for the city of San Francisco, and there is a rugby tournament called the Bingham Cup that has been named in his honor.
here's a good synopsis of several people from 9/11.

So Beamer was the one who said, "Let's roll!" Correct?
What did Bingham do other than arrive late for the flight?
beamer did say "let's roll."
he, bingham, tom burnett, jeremy glick and others were reportedly involved in taking over the plane from terrorists that wound up crashing in pennsylvania.

Thanks for clarifying the mystery for me.
you're welcome.
also, i believe that todd beamer never called his wife but he called an phone operator (lisa jefferson ?) and spoke with her. it is she who spoke of todd's rallying cry: "let's roll."
you did, however, spell mark's name correctly.

He did call Lisa Jefferson- she was on Larry King with Cheyenne and them. She is writing a book about the whole experience. I'm not so sure on the reference of LET'S ROLL on the phone, but in the movie- its played down.
According to the liner notes in Etta James' 2003 album titled "Let's Roll" :
In naming this album "Let's Roll", Etta expresses her feelings and gives honor to a great hero, Todd Beamer. Beamer, the heroic passenger of Flight 93, which went down on September 11, 2001, left Americans with an uplifted spirit and a will to carry on with his final words : "Let's Roll"

For the last hour- Cheyanne Jackson, some other people in the movie and some families of the victims were on Larry King. People were calling in and asking questions and commenting- especially about whether it's too soon. All of the people on Larry King agreed that it was the right time to do it.
Many of them were telling personal stories and Cheyanne said he's always been afraid to fly. For the whole 2 months of making the movie, he sat in seat 4C and on the flight home from London he was in seat 4C.
2 of the people on Larry King were Todd Beamer's wife and I believe Lisa Jefferson.
I'm sure it's going to be repeated again so watch out for it!
It was Todd Beamer's dad, not his wife.
