Very nice.
Jealous that Gehry gave Chicago the beautiful Jay Pritzker Pavillion, and we got the eye sore that is the Experience Music Project.
Millennium Park's Jay Pritzgar Pavillion is a behemoth, awe-inspiring theatre. 4 to 5 thousand seats, not including the lawn.
I attended several free concerts last summer and sat near the seats and on the lawn. One of my dreams would come true if I could see Kristin Chenoweth perform a concert on a beautiful summer evening at the Pritzgar.
Millennium Park is much more than the Pavillion. Gardens, unusual fountains, ground breaking art work, ice rink/restaurant and the Harris (indoor) Theatre, dot the grounds of the park.
Check it out if you can or at least take a virtual tour. It is situated right on the water front and right next door to the the Art Institute.
I can't wait to see the "Bean" again in all it's glory!
it IS a fabulous park.......can't wait to see it again in August!
They're finishing up the bean now. About half of it is revealed. It's even more incredible with the seams smoothed over. I also love the Gehry bridge. I can't wait to see the new park on the other side of the bridge when it is finished. And the miniature golf is really cool.

Glebb, I could tell if you were being glibb, but I did see Cheno at the Millenium Park opening gala. She sang a few numbers and was very funny. There was also an outstanding young violinist, but I cannot recall here name.
DD - that is ugly. I love Gehry's work at MP.
Candide or just a concert of Cheno would be a summer treat for me.

She did her Candide standard - she truly is a comedian.
Lucky you brdlwyr. :)
One of these days....
PS - I agree with you DD. I've seen EMP and I must say I prefer Gehry in silver, not in color.
Matt, I never saw the minature golf...where is that? And the Bean looked fab last July.......didn't know it wasn't finished.
off subject, I was surprised that the Rookery in Lincoln Park had NO ducks at it when I was there, but it was early morning (walking a friends dog). It was always my favorite place in the park
The miniature golf is called The Green and located on Monroe sorta between Millenium Park and Grant Park. It's not the typical putt-putt windmill clown's mouth stuff. It is an actual miniature 18-hole golf course with sand traps, greenery and water hazards. It is really pretty.
I love Millennium Park! My cousin and I hang out there every chance we get if we just happen to be bored. My favorites are the Pavillion, Bean, spitting water fountain, and the bridge.
Maybe if we paint EMP all silver it won't be as aweful.
Yeah... who am I kidding.
