Posted: 4/29/04 at 7:18pmI'm going to be in Chicago for a couple of days and haven't ever been there. Does anyone have any suggestions on places I should go, or shows to see?

Two shows of intrest:
The Chicago premier of PARADE at the BAILLYWICK has recieved some pretty favorable reviews.
THE SHAGS at Lookingglass sounds really interesting. It is only in previews now, so no official reviews.

When does WindyCityActor's show start? If it is running right now you could go see him.

Posted: 4/30/04 at 9:28amIf I had the chance, I'd see Parade - I saw it at Lincoln Center and loved it - wish it had been a longer run - what a great piece of writing. Also the Museum has the original painting that Sunday in the Park with George was inspired by - see that if you get a chance.

I agree on the suggestion to go to the Art Institute. My other thoughts for a weekend trip to Chicago:
***Shedd Aquarium - outstanding!
***Walk/Shop the Magificent Mile - Michigan Ave.
***Take the Architectural Cruise on the Chicago River (I think it opens for the season in May)
***Browse/Shop at the original Marshall Fields on State Street
***See the view from the top of the observation tower at The John Hancock building
***If you like Thai food, take a cab to Arun's - fantastic, but expensive.
***Cubs game, if they are in town and you can get tickets!
***Take in a show!

When will you be in town? The Art Institute and Magnificant Mile are musts. If you're here on a Monday night, see The Best of Second City. Wonderful improv performances for only $8. Check out the schedules for Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Lookinglass Theatre, Victory Gardens and Broadway in Chicago. Stop by Water Tower on North Michigan for Chicago theatre schedules and Hottix (Chicago's version of TKTS). Also be sure to stop by the cultural center downtown. They have a lot of free activities and coupons for tons of shopping and dining in Chicago.

Posted: 4/30/04 at 4:18pmYou should walk down Michigan avenue and spend the afternoon or day there. Walk around millenium park and see the new orchestra shell theyre building. To bad you are not here on Tuesdays becuase thats when the Art Institute has their free day..and i think some other measums too. If youve never had an authentic chicago pizza go to Ginos East or for a chicago hot dog go to the weiner circle. Walk around in the loop and check out Marshall Fields. You should check out Navy Pier too and ride the ferris wheel and walk to Buckingham Fountain...hmm if you want to see a show go to hottix.org for shows that are half price. Go to metromix.com too for things to do. have fun!!!

Posted: 4/30/04 at 4:30pmYou can also hang out in the alley behind the Shubert Theatre. That is where Chinkie and I used to live.

If the weather is bad, I would suggest the Art Institute, or any of the other fine museums we have.
Theatrewise, pick up a copy of "The Chicago Reader" and check the theatre listings.
You should definately each get deep-dish pizza at Unos.
