During my senior year, I will be participating in one of those charity pageant things where it's less about who's the prettiest and more about who raises the most money for charity. We have a whole year to fundraise in various ways before the actual pageant. Anyway, one of my ideas was to get some of the theater kids at my school together and put on a musical, with me directing.

These are my requirements for shows

It has to be not very technically demanding (like not Wicked or Little Shop Of Horrors)
It has to be family-friendly
It has to have a medium-sized cast
It has to have a cast all potentially playable by teenagers (no children and no adult roles that are hard for teens to pull off e.g. Tevye , Sweeney Todd or Diana Goodman )
It can't be a really dance-heavy show like Cats or Thoroughly Modern Millie
It can't be any of the shows our school has recently done which (as I've stated many times on this forum) are Footloose, The Music Man, Into The Woods, Anything Goes, Little Shop Of Horrors, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown and Guys And Dolls

So, what shows would fit my requirements?

My first thought would be "Grease". It's not the most amazing show in the world, but everyone recognizes it from the movie, therefore tons of people show up whenever someone does the musical. I've often heard that when school's do Grease, it's their most profitable show. Plus, most of the characters are teenagers so I'm sure your cast could pull it off well(and the music is relatively easy to do). And I bet you could tone down some of the bigger musical numbers to accommodate your medium sized cast and there's no particularly difficult technical elements to worry about. I hope that helps! Good luck with your show! :)

"Pippin" is a great choice, as is "The Sound of Music" though you potentially need a few small children. "Beauty and the Beast" and "Aida" might be good too.

Company!!!
It has a small-medium cast and has little to no dance. Also the tech elements are subjective to the director (you can go super simple.)

You could also do 25th annual Putnam county spelling bee.
I was just in it and It was a lot of fun. It has a very basic set but there is some choreography involved (though It can be very simple actions).

Hope this helps!
Good luck with your show!

Let me be your star, now wouldn't that be lovely?
