It just isn't Christmas unless I get two old videos off the shelf to watch.
One is Julie Andrews - THE SOUND OF CHRISTMAS and the other is JULIE AND CAROL: TOGETHER AGAIN!
I'm pretty sure I'll watch my new 40th Anniversary MARY POPPINS DVD on Christmas Day too.
What are your Christmas must video/DVDs?
"It's a Wonderful Life" goes without saying.
I just got a chance to watch "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" the other night. Have'nt seen it in years. I've always loved that one.
"Mrs. Santa Claus" with Angela Lansbury is a great new/old-fashioned one. Check it out if you've never seen it.
All the Rankin/Bass specials are a must too.

Nightmare Before Christmas. It's great, because we can watch it for Halloween and Christmas. And A Muppet Christmas Carol.

Thanks DaysofWine&Roses. I'll try to check out "Mrs. Santa Claus". I too love "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol".

HOW COULD I FORGET CHARLIE BROWN?! I own the soundtrack and everything. "That's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown."
Does anyone who grew up in the NYC area remember every New Years Eve Ch. 5 showing "Die Fledermous" and Tony Randall (God rest his soul) would host it or something.
Whenever I think of New Years Eve as a kid, I think of that.

No 'A Christmas Story' listed yet?
My holiday favs are A Christmas Story and The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Speaking of, I am watching A Chistmas Story tonight with my family
(the smiley was for the movie, not my family lol)
For my bf: George C. Scott Christmas Carol
For me: The Shop Around the Corner
I love "A shop around the corner" I saw it listed on tv a few days ago, but sadly did'nt get a chance to watch.
Hopefully, it'll be played again soon.
Usually it's Meet Me In St. Louis for me. But since I just saw a screening of it (and sobbed!) I think this Christmas will be A Julie Andrews Christmas (w/ guest Peggy Lee) followed by A Christmas Carol (haven't figured out which one yet -- Allister, Reginald, or Patrick Stewart.)
Although not a Christmas movie, I adore the Christmas party in Desk Set. ("Did you know that our dear Mr. Sumpter lives on the Mexington Avenue bus?")
Now I want some "Floating Island".
It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol (with Allister Simms)
...and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It still cracks me up.

I always watch "White Christmas" in the week or so before Christmas. And every Christmas day after eating past full my family will all sit and watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" together, singing along. It goes wihtout saying that we watch the original cartoon.
White Christmas and Meet Me in St.Louis for sure. I can't go through Christmas without a little Judy and a little Rosemary.
Charlie Brown. I love that wonderful ole' blockhead. I have it on video so I can watch it year round. Sadly enough I know a good hunk of it by heart. Updated On: 12/21/04 at 12:29 AM

Tons of stuff. Besides "White Christmas", and most versions of "A Christmas Carol" (George C. Scott's being my favorite), I always watch my videos of Julie Andrews' Christmas Specials from 1973 and 1987, also "Christmas In Washington", with Julie as host, from 1992.

is julie andrews synonymous with christmas?
I can't believe no one has mentioned Pee Wee Herman's Christmas Special! haha!
My grandfather actually has it on tape and puts it on every christmas eve.... so very odd
White christmas is the big one.
Also technically viewing, but it's actually live, any christmas season where I get to go see the Nutcracker makes Christmas extra special.

Julie Andrews is synonymous with Christmas to me. She's done 3 Christmas Specials (her "Sound of Christmas" is still the most watched Christmas Special ever), plus did a Christmas episode on her Julie Andrews Hour variety show, and has 3 Christmas CDs. She also did a Firestone Christmas Album (unfortunately, not available on CD). Nobody sings Christmas music as beautifully, IMO. Or anything else, for that matter.
