With the Red Sox Red hot & the yankees ice cold, they panicked by signing Clemens. Clemens will not win them a place in the post season.
There will be a new manager next year & they need to rebuild. They will probably need to trade for young players as they have gutted their farm system to trade for has beens

the farm's in the best shape it's been in for years specifically because they have not been raiding the system for trades. that's been cashman's whole plane the last two years or so: get younger and get deeper.
would you rather the sox had clemens? give him 20 starts and run support and he'll win 10 at minimum and probably 13 or better. he's a bargain and cost them nothing but money even if only to keep him out of boston.
the sox are winning at a 70% clip. do you really think that's going to continue and they'll win 113 games?
the season isn't even a quarter over and you're already here with the gloom and doom, roxy? have a drink and relax.
let hughes get healthy. the rotation of moose, andy, wang, hughes and clemens is one i'll be happy to take into the post season. even if it's as a wild card team.

Posted: 5/15/07 at 7:21pmyanks will come back. I may not like Clemen's but he won't hurt the yanks for one season. He'll drum up enough support and fan appreciation to get them through this rough patch. And if he starts to stink? They'll just drop him to the minor league team and he will bow out into retirement, as per his contract I believe. The yanks have some big ace pitchers this season once they ease them off the injured list. I'd rather them start off cold and got hot in the end, then start off hot and fizzle when it counts.
