A Wheaton college professor was fired for getting a divorce, which goes against the Christian college's faith statement. They also recently fired a professor who converted to Catholicism. It's gotta be tough getting a job knowing that you'll be fired if you change religions or get a divorce in the future....and I suppose there are a lot of other reasons they could fire you as well....there's lots of rules in the New Testament.

Assuming they worked at the university for a while, they'd know the rules.
And then they broke them.
Sounds fair to me.

I went to a Catholic college, and I had professors who weren't Catholic. I even had a Religious Studies teacher who wasn't! (he was Greek Orthodox.) I had a Brother as a teacher, and also a gay man. I had a never-married single mother as my adviser.
I never realized that faith-affiliated institutions could discriminate against professors in this way. I guess it's just because it wasn't my experience.

Not only can they discriminate against professors, but also students.
I thought about going to Abilene Christian, but I was told I'd have to go back in the closet.

I think we all understand free speech on here. Most of the posters actually support Fred Phelps' right to do his thing.
And anyway, catholicism deserves all the crap that's said about it.
Most of it happens to be true.
