Yet another college question. Would you say the common application would look worse than filling out NYU's application?

As I've heard, it doesn't matter at most schools. As a matter of getting all your info, from parents jobs to resume, it's basic.
However NYU's essay questions are way more creative, so it might be worth it to look at them carefully. You can pick "topic of your choice" on the common app, but NYU's give a good starting point for creativity.
It's up to you, really.

Most schools say they don't care, but I've always heard that some of the more "elite" schools may hold the opinion that you seem more interested if you actually go ahead and use THEIR application. If they're using the common app, though, there's not extra information that your application would be lacking if you used it that would otherwise appear on the "actual" one. In the even that a school would want more information than appears on the common app, and they accept the common app, they'll send you a supplementary attachment to fill out.

Good luck!

That's what I'm worried about is the essay. I was so stupid not to apply earlier - reason was I didn't think my SAT scores would be decent enough, so I didn't bother applying. However, after getting my scores back, they were much better than last time, and now I have to apply last minute. I guess I would do topic of choice, so I can use a previous essay.

I plan on using my essay on my love for books, and it ends with why I would like to attend NYU.

Some advice, for you people entering college in the future: DEADLINES ARE IMPORTANT! Get everything in as early as you can so you don't have to rush like me. re: Common App(Sorry!)

I did the common application for NYU. And then I mailed in the application supplement, twice, and each time they told me they did not receive it and to file it electronically via their site. You can't do it online because it's in Adobe.

So I just filled the damn thing out on their site, their application. It cost an unnessary $60, but it was less hassle.

I, too had trouble with the commonapp. So, I pushed it aside and just did the one specifically for Nyu. I would do that, if I were you.
Please let me know if you guys get in! I did early decision, so it feels good to know already that I'm going there. We could all be freshmen together! re: Common App(Sorry!)
