How many MB (mega bytes) are in 2 GB (giga bytes)?

I absolutely forgot how to calculate these things!

2,000, I think.

A megabyte is 1 million bytes, and a gigabyte is 1 billion.

as i understand it they're all multiples of 1,000

1 byte
1 kilobyte = 1,000 bytes
1 megabyte = 1,000 kilobytes
1 gigabyte = 1,000 megabytes
1 terabyte = 1,000 gigabytes

at least i think that's how it goes. beyond terabytes i think it's just called "oh f***!"

Databases measured in terabytes are ones that store massive amounts of sattelite photos for the government, stuff like that. Maybe one day there'll be a need for bigger ones, but for now thousands of terabytes is enough.

Yes. A lot smaller, considering that it takes 1,000 MB to make one 1 GB.

I'm asking b/c for 100 MB disk space I'm paying $19.95/month, whereas I found another for 2 GB at $14.95/month.

Am I missing out on something? Is there something hidden here? Or should I just drop the $19.95/month of 100MB and go for the $14.95/month with 2 GB?

depends on what kinda service comes with that space. read any and all fine print. usually if it sounds too good to be true...it is.

You're renting disk space? And only 100 megs, at that?

I'm confused- you can stick over 600 megs of data on a rewritable dic, no problem, only a one-time expense. Am I missing something here?

The service is very much the same. The only thing is, with the $19.95/month, there are no commitments, wheras the $14.95/month requires a 3/6/12 month commitment and $30 set-up fee.

What? What is this service, exactly? You really don't need to rent disk space- you can just pay for it once; it'll be a lot cheaper, especially an amount as small as what you're describing.

I'm looking into e-commerce sites...I just found this other one, and I just found it surprising how I could pay less and get more. The only thing is that the least expensive requires 3/6/12 month commitments. I think I just might switch to that.

...and if you have ever have need of this information and we aren't around...just google it...you can find these storage and memory units on a lot of sites dedicated to technology and technical lingo
