Computer Virus

I was wondering if anyone had anything like this and could help me get rid of it...

My computer is RIDICULOUSLY slow for starters. Also, I can hardly ever play music or videos b/c they freeze the computer or make sputter noises. Whenever I run a virus check it freezes up in the 1000s... Could this be an issue with Limewire, possibly? I'm usually careful about what I download... Anyway, anyone have a similiar problem?

Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

i don't have that. but i just had a terrible AIM virus. it was sending links to everyone on my buddy list. awkward and annoying. sorry i can't help. you need new antivirus software if it's not working.
computers make me go ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr

As a general rule, yeah, there's a good chance it's Limewire. Try running Ad-Aware, which is available at Donwload.com. It'll help get rid of some of the crap that's slowing down your system, and maybe pave the way for a good virus scan. Are you using Norton or McAfee? And do you keep your subscription updated?

I would recommend AVG instead of Norton or McAfee. AVG uses a totally different scanning method and isn't the resource pig that the other two are. It's also free. http://free.grisoft.com

Hey, just because they run 4 background processes at the same time, it totally doesn't mean the conventional anti-virus programs use up all your CPU. *snerk*
