Cop Rock......Did anyone ever see this show?

I was watching a count down on Nick-at-Nite and they mentioned this show and how it was like an episodic musical version of COPS. Anyways, just wondering what you guys thought about it.

It was called Cop Rock - you're confusing it with the candy. re: Cop Rocks......Did anyone ever see this show?

And it was one of the most horrifically embarrassing things ever to hit a TV screen.

It's one of those notorious shows - even though it ran for a very short time, everyone knows of it - it was SO bad.

True that Rath! You know when Roseanne makes references to it on her old show, it had to be bad! I saw it once and had to turn it off after the jury box in one scene burst into a Gospel number...it was just...very surreal, and wrong.

umm...it's so bad it is kinda good...
Trio runs it every once in a while, and I TiVod it. Alot of bad singing/acting/dancing, and embarrassing plot lines. Also, Randy Newman was the music supervisor and wrote some of the songs and I cant stand him...BUT...there was a beautiful scene with Kathleen Wilhoite as a drug addict who, before selling her baby, sings to her "Sandman's Comin' Soon." In another episode, after getting the baby back, she sings another pretty song apologizing to the kid. She was really good...

They need to get the DVD out immediately!! It was so bad you have to see it to believe it. Besides it being a surreal musical, the writers leaned more toward soap opera writing. In one episode, one of the women gets her face redone so that she can look younger. I think she had scar tissue on her face that was removed or something.

I remember the episode with the singing jury. I will never forget it. The jury starts singing a gospel number that went "He's guilty, he's guilty".

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Yes - Roseanne re-created that scene in an episode where she is on trial for murdering her family. It is so much better as a spoof than the actual show - or, maybe that's what they were going for. Hard to tell.

I remember seeing the first episode. While the show was pretty bad, that song with the drug addict mom was actually quite good.

Loved it! So creative and innovative that people were simply not ready for it.

It was on at a time when I had not tv so I never go to watch it. I wish I had, though.

If you have the Trio channel on your cable or satellite, they may replay it.

A while ago they had a series of stuff called "brilliant but cancelled" with legendarily cancelled shows. Cop Rock was the only one that really sparked my interest (watched a few Parenthood's as well) and got most of them on dvd...but they have not shown it in about a year.
