Another issue to me is- where was the MD obtaining the drug?
it may be that MJ was buying it "under the table." so to speak. another possibility is that murray has it legally in his office. he is supposedly trained as an interventional cardiologist. i thought cardiac catheterizations were just done with local anesthesia, but i could be mistaken. or perhaps he does echoes in his office (you would need some kind of sedation for certain kinds of echocardiograms).

Interventional procedures usually use Midazolam and Versid to induce twilite sedation ( as its termed ) for moderately invasive procedures.
A few weeks ago we had to use Propofol for a difficult intubation, My pharmacist, had to get a signed order ( not usually req'd in a code blue situation) and then fetch the drug herself, that's how closely the stuf is monitered ( @ lest in Canada)
The synergistic effect may have been what they were trying for as the dose in question is not an overlarge dose. None the less
emergency recesiitation equip should have been avail as well as other drugs like Narcan.
The only good thing I can see coming out of this is a greater restricition on who can LEGITIMATELY obtain these drugs.
