Could someone please explain Hillary Duff?

I know LL has gotten a lot of bad press (although I have watched her since Another World and am a fan) and the media said that her last few movies have tanked, but I don't remember any of Hillary Duff's starring attractions to be any good- except The Lizzie McGuire movie which was hot off the Disney press. All of her other movies have been awful and she always plays the same character. She's cute but she really can't sing or dance or even act (always shallow with no depth). I know she had this clean image, but she was dating a much older rocker dude that wouldn't be considered a good role model for girls- so please explain- my daughter wants to know. Thanks and P.S.- not trying to offend anyone- just asking
