... but many Hollywood Stars have "sung" their way through Broadway Musicals:

Katharine Hepburn - COCO

Vivien Leigh - TOVARICH

Bette Davis - TWO'S COMPANY

"I say YOU'RE the CUTEST one. No, I say YOU'RE the CUTEST One. And we go on like that from dawn to three."

PRETTY SINGING VOICE: A dime a dozen.

STAR PRESENCE: Priceless.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Lauren Bacall - APPLAUSE & WOMAN OF THE YEAR

"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

Actually Richard Burton could carry a tune, and though not operatic, had a beautiful singing voice.

I'll second Lauren Bacall

And even though I love her to death, I must say I don't think Judi Dench can carry a tune AT ALL.

Yul Brynner - The King and I

Rodney, while you may not have appreciated Ms. Chenoweth in The Music Man, to claim she can't carry a tune may be overstating the case a bit.

"I must say I don't think Judi Dench can carry a tune AT ALL."

I was fortunate to see her do A Little Night Music. And while she doesn't have a great singing voice, I was in tears at the end of her "Send In the Clowns". I don't think I will ever hear it more beautifully "sung".

Marc,

I agree. IMO, Dench's rendition of "Send in the Clowns" is THE definitive version. (It struck a deep emotional chord with ne, too.)
