Scary stuff -

Coyote pack chasing pets smashes door of home in Chicago suburb

Of course I live in the desert, not in a giant city, but I'm in a residential area and we have similar problems.

My vet even warned me against leaving windows open at night because raccoons will cut the screens with their claws and go after my cat (not to mention food in the cupboards).
