well, some idiot in the Bronx got my ATM number (has a MC logo) and charged some clothes......he had my name, my address, and my phone number, except the last digit was wrong.
I only knew as my bank statement had a charge to somewhere I never heard of.
Filed a report with the bank, made a police report, contacted the company that he charged with, and luckily they thought something looked weird, and stopped UPS from delivering, so I will get a credit......
BUT, I have only had this ATM 3 weeks, and have hardly used it......the police figure it was done off the internet, SO be careful........
Now I have to wait for another ATM, had this happened right before the trip, I would have been er, um......screwed

not to be all paranoid or anything, but have you pulled your credit reports yet? I had a problem a couple of years ago with someone using my info to open a landline account (I only have a cell phone) and charge up roughly $3500 worth of calls in three months. Turns out that phone accounts were opened with Verizon, TMobile, SBC, Cingular, etc.- landlines and cells- with my info (name/SSN), but for service at all different addresses, nothing was being billed to my correct home address.

I was lucky that no CC were involved, 'only' utilities, but I would totally suggest cheecking your reports out, just in case.

fyi- (at least this was the case a couple of years ago, for me)- my cell is Verizon, and one of the accounts opened up with my name/ssn was a Verizon landline, and apparently for Verizon cell and landline are two different companies. So if you have a Verizon cell account opened with your name/ssn and billed to one address, and someone uses your same info to open up a Verizon landline at some other address, the different addresses flag *nothing* in Verizon's internal systems.

Like I said, I don't mean to be all paranoid- yours could have just been some random kid who tried to buy clothes online one time and that is all, your credit reports are probably fine. :)
