I was just wondering:
Do the college Theater departments have a guideline to
how many of what they accept?
Meaning how many sopranos, mezzos, altos?
Bass', Baritones, Tenors?
no, I think in a way that's considered discrimantion. Actually they have guidelines of acceptance, as in percentage, but I don't think they can pick how many women or men they choose nor Soprano's Mezzo's Alto..ect.
The better the school, the smaller the acceptance rate. Top 10 musical theatre departments tend to pick 1 bass, 2 barritone, 3 tenors, 2 altos, 2 mezzos and 2 sopranos for a class size of 12. Schools that aren't elitist or aren't a conservatory will take a much larger number.

they def. must do that...I mean they're not gonna have 10 sopranos...they need variety. If small theatre departments pick people based on what they look like and what roles they could play...why wouldn't they go by what you could do vocally? I would say they def. do. That's why it's so hard to get into the top musical theatre programs because there are endless amounts of factors. It's not just wow, you're great...you're in.
