They call us at 5:00am. We are supposed to get a wintery mix with lots of ice and such. I don't know if I want the day off or not. The kids go nuts with a day off.

Ok...so they just called. I'm still annoyed that they waited until almost 10 PM to make the darn decision........

Nada, but I doubt they will call it.

I was taught by nuns and to this day I have the most stunningly beautiful Palmer script you can imagine. There have been times at school where the little reprobates in my class have asked that I NOT erase the board because they just like to look at the penmanship. (I wholeheartedly agree with them!)

Actually Kel, this is our first snow day of the year. We had a few late starts due to the cold weather, but no snow. Our kids soooo need this day. They've been rammy because we HAVEN'T had snow. They kept predicting it, and then it wouldn't happen. So, we're all thrilled with the day off.

Of course, I might need you all to remind me of this in a few weeks when I'm freaking out becaust my 3rd and 4th graders are so behind in learning their concert music for their concert at the end of March!

I have HORRIBLE hand writing so I am not the best example for teaching children proper handwriting. I am working on it, but I doubt it will improve much. I feel so bad for my students because the school wants them to learn D'Nealian, but we are teaching them "normal" print because that is what all of us are used to.

Yes. But I had no clue it was known as D'Nealian until today. Palmer script is beautiful. I remember my first grade teacher had the greatest handwriting ever. Her script was gorgeous, and her print was inanely neat.

I usually print, but it's flowy and a little script like.

The latest and greatest out here in California is "Handwriting Without Tears" (yes, it's the actual name of the program!). I think it is pretty ugly, but the kids actually have an easier time learning correct letter formation.

I have taught D'Nealian for too many years to count-prior to this year.

Ok..this is one of the most random threads ever. re: D'Nealian Handwriting
