DAME NEEDS ITUNES HELP! EMERGENCY!

My lover bought a new 160 gb hard drive for his computer. I installed it for him. I was going to leave all the applications in one hard drive and put the pictures, home movies, and music in the other. In the process I accidentally deleated 2000 music files. I think he has it all backed up somewhere but I don't want to ask. Can I upload them from his ipod? if I can.. how do I do it? Oh and his computer is a Imac.

Any help and I will be forever grateful.

No, you cannot upload anything from the ipod onto the computer. It is a one way street only.

Dame, you cannot take info off of an Ipod and put it back on a computer with Itunes...

that's not true guys. you CAN take stuff off an ipod and put it back on the comp... i've done it with mine... i just don't remember how. there's a setting you have to change when you plug it into a comp... it says like, hide music files and if you uncheck it it shows the music files and then you can drag them to your comp and viola... they're on the comp again.

no, there really is no way to transfer what's on an Ipod in terms of music files. I believe you can move photo files freely.

I don't mind loosing the playlists. Thank you all. I am at work now but will go home early today to try to fix this before he gets home. I still don't know how the music disspaeraed. OY.

don't worry. as long as you have the ipod, you'll be fine. it's totally possible to transfer back to the comp.

I've always been told by Apple that you cannot transfer from ipod, that is was a copyright protection thing. I hope I am wrong for your sake, although if your lover (and you) are into dishing out punishment, it might make for an interesting evening at the DAME household.

I do agree it has something to do with download revenue. They don't want one library to populate the world's ipods.

Apple consistently maintains that one can't transfer from Ipod to the computer, It says so on their website, however, take a vist it the Apple ipod message boards, which I guess aren't policed very well and you'll find a million people with music stuck on their ipods and happily you'll also find a million solutions...

cause you don't actually need to download any programs in order to do it. it's just a simple checking of a box.
