Happened this morning on my line, the Red Line near the Farragut North station. It's the same line on which the tragic collision occurred last year.
More DC Metrorail Woes
I heard about that this afternoon. The Red Line is one of the lines I have to take to get to work but fortunately I didn't go in today. From what the article says, it seemed to have been some kind of fail-safe tactic, although I've never heard of a train ever automatically derailing. No one still has offered any explanation as to why the train veered off onto the side track. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured.
This has certainly been a rough couple of months for Metro, what with the June crash and the workers who were struck and killed last month.
I heard about this earlier too. I'm so thankful nobody was hurt.
