my first day of library school in, YIKES 1986.....all of us came into the class, and all that was there were chairs and a TV.....a student aid came in, sad sit down, turned on the TV....and there was Desk Set....and we watched it.
Our professor was working on his PhD in Library Science at the U of Michigan, and could not make it to Wayne State U that night (one of the few 4-year colleges still offering a masters in library science).....so his idea of a first class was for us to watch the movie.
I fell in love with it then, and of course now own it.
What I find humorous now is the dichotomy of how reference librarians viewed computers then, and how they do now.....
Great movie, sadly never saw the stage version.
I'm not sure a remake would work......it is very dated, and to bring it into the 21st century would lose something I think........which is also why I have fears of the Pajama Game remake, as I also love that original
I saw the thread title and instantly thought of the "flying desk set" scene from Dead Poet's Society.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get another one next year."

My, what lovely steamer rugs...
Thanks for the info Rath.
I own a video and will purchase the DVD because of 'our girl'. :)
