Okay I'm bumping this thread because I think this woman deserves some recognition. Just got thru listening to the 2-Disc Motown Anthology and this woman's musical legacy stands on it's own. I just don't feel like *talking* about the negative b.s.
So if anyone wants to chat wit me about Miss Ross... please feel free to do so. And thanks to DAME for starting this thread.
Your welcome honey. Lady Sings The Blues is on TV this coming week.
That movie needs an anamorphic widescreen, 2 disc special edition with DTS 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound DVD release NOW!!!
You can add "Mahogany" too that also! *guilty pleasure*

I agree. instead they have re-issued "The Wiz" which is horrendous.
I agree. That movie literally makes me cry just thinking about all that waste....
And it i kind of weird watching Michael jackson in it.
It is. Because even with all that screcrow make-up he still looks 100% better then than he does now. I do love the "Everybody Rejoice (A Brand New Day)" number.
Thaths the number they play at the gay bars here.
Just got back here. I hope I didn't piss anyone off. It wasn't my intention to dismiss anyone's personal view of their life.
Anyway, enough of that. I'ma put on my elbow length gloves and enormous eyelashes and love me some Supremes.
She is simply the most under rated, unappreciated performer around. She's been through some rough times the past couple of years, but she's back stronger than ever. Check out the MAC Icon campaign if you haven't seen it. I've seen her 4 times in concert and have every recording she's ever done.
My mom has that special The Supremes did with The Temptations on video. It's a cool special.
The Diana Ross HBO special filmed at Radio City Music Hall in the 80s was sooooooooooo good.
I was in the park that day but did not see either concert.
Were you there for the first one?
I was home. We didn't head out because the weather got bad and we knew it was going to get rained out. We went back the next day.
Good for you. :)
I was out of the park and in a restaurant on Columbus Ave when the rain started. Wow, what a storm! I saw her singing in the rain on the news that night.
I wish they would release on cd "The Supremes Sing Funny Girl."
Diana's "I'm the Greatest Star" was fun but her "Sadie, Sadie Married Lady" was surreal.

My mom met her once in the city. She didn't realize it was her until a few minutes later.
Glebb,
I am wondering if the special you are refering to was the one she did from Ceasars palace in Las vegas. i don't rember her radio City special being on HBO. But I might be wrong.
