A word of advice.
Do not but a DVD when it first comes out. More often than not, after it is out a few months, the price drops drastically. A number of DVD;S I bought @ full price (& have yet to watch) are 1/2 of what I paid for them

Most new DVDs have a list price of $29.99. Almost all the major retailers feature them on sale for $19.99 or so. Usually, after several months, the sales slow significantly and the studio will drop the regular price to $19.99. Then, sometimes, other reductions are made, which is why you see sale tables with DVDs under $10 and the like.
The worrisome part is: (& have yet to watch) Why buy DVDs if you aren't going to watch them?

I could not leave BROADWAY: THE GOLDEN AGE, BROADWAY: THE AMERICAN MUSICAL and BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES sitting on a store shelf waiting for the price to drop if my LIFE depended on it!!
But you're right, Mr. Roxy, everything hits that sale table sooner or later.

Mr. Roxy, I have to disagree with you somewhat. Having run a videostore for years I can tell you that the best time to buy a dvd is when it first comes out. You'll find most places like Best Buy will sell them below their cost (it's called a loss leader) to get people into the store. Different studios have different policies as to when they lower the SRP (Suggested retail price) of their product and some studios never do that.
I find now that the best way to buy dvd's is from Blockbuster or Hollywood video and I buy them previously viewed. One of those stores pretty much always has a "3 for $25" sale and that's better than any sale Best Buy could ever have. But if you want a movie when it first comes out, I would suggest getting it within those first two weeks if possible.

I've never paid over $20 for a new release unless it was some sort of Collector's Edition. Otherwise, I've never paid more than $19.95 at Best Buy.
And the TV boxed sets are noticeably cheaper the first week or so they're out at Best Buy compared to where they'll settle the price later.

If you want inexpensive DVD'S with no shipping & handling ever go to www.deepdiscountdvd.com
Another site for lesser known titles & old serials & tv classics is www.oldies.com. They also have audio recordings
