I've never used a kit to repair a scratched dvd, but I did recently, for the first time, use one of those dvds made to clean my dvd player. The box said you should clean your dvd player after every 20 hours of use or something like that, I have owned my player for over three years and never cleaned it. :) But anyway, the cleaner worked *perfectly*- my dvd player is back to normal, no more pausing and skipping and random lines and any other problems. So I would give a dvd repair kit a shot, hopefully it works as well as those cleaner dvds do.

well i think it's the DVD because i bought Supernatural the series on DVD... well i'm on the VERY last episode of disc 6... and the freaking screen pauses and whatnot... AAAAARRRGGGH! after 21 episodes over 6 discs... the FINAL episode... during the FINAL last 10 minutes it goes berzerk.... anyways... i put the DVD in another player and the same thing happens at the same point... aaarggh!

DVDs play by light-- so anything that gets in the light's way can effect play. I'd advise people (Especially people with pets) to buy a can of pressurized air at a camera store and blast it in the drawer of the player from time to time to get out hairs, dust, etc.

If your disc is scratched those kits can help. If it's just dirty, get a cotton rag and some glass cleaner and give it a polish. Fingerprints, goo, smudges all can cause skips.

My bottle of Tape Cleaner says "Pig Sweat" on it... Is this right?
