Dark Shadows Marathon this weekend 10/24-26

I'm kind of surprised to see that Decades is showing a Dark Shadows marathon 10/24, 25, and 26. It will be on from 1:00pm Saturday to 7:00am on Monday morning. This will give any of us interested a look at what was raved about when it was on. I don't know if they are showing them in story order.

This cable station has an interesting concept of programming and they show a lot of older tv shows.

Yeah sounds like a bootleg. And for a bootleg that's pretty pricey. You might want to test some episodes before asking for them all lol it's an acquired taste-which I love. (I love the short lived 90s revival too. The Burton film on the other hand.)

Yeah the 90s revival is what you call a miniseries--it actually got good ratings at first and producer Dan Curtis blames its cancellation on interruptions due to the Gulf War. Not sure about that but it is well done. I do own the 70s movies (which are much more gory horror movie retellings of the Barnabus and Quentin stories, respectively.) I admit I'm curious to see the pilot that was made for a more teen oriented WB network revival and has been shown at some conventions...

And Jean Simmons in the Joan Bennett role! I wonder who they would have cast as Quentin of it had gone on. As a kid I was much more of a Quentin fan (thanks to the handsome David Selby)than Barnabus. Sadly after his main story ended was when the show started to fall apart (they had gone through every horror trope really and were reduced to bizarre things like leviathans)

Oh, I soon had the hots for him as a kid!

Yes he has! I spoke with him acouple years ago at a Dark Shadows convention near my shop.

I hope you're wrong about that CT. The 90's Dark Shadows was one hour long and only 8 or 9 episodes. Decades has them listed as half hour shows. At any rate they have to fill about 38 hours of programming. My comcast often list movies and shows with the same name incorrectly. Just this week "Bridesmaids" was listed for the E channel and the description called it a movie from the 1940's with the same name; it was the one with Kristen Wiig. Let's hope the 1/2 hour listings are the older DS. Starts tomorrow at 1pm eastern.

Man, who is this hunk playing Joe Haskell, (Maggie's boyfriend). His name is Joel Crether or something like that. He could bite me on the neck, (ears,lips) anytime!

I think most of the cast were actors on Broadway for their night time jobs. I'll have to look them up on the Playbill vault.

Wow Artman, that's so very sad. He really was quite the stud for that time. I guess that was also the first wave of full blown AIDS/HIV. Broadway itself lost so, so many talented and sweet men. The 70's and 80's remain a scourge of history we should never forget.

I myself lost my older brother to AIDS and my husband's best friend from high school/college also died. So we've gone through the anger and loss. At least we have video and film to remember many of those lost. Now, it will be a little different watching the rest of these Dark Shadows episodes. Here's hoping a somber moment will turn to the lighter campier scenes that DS is so good at.
