Not sure if I like this- seems...odd.
SNL Announcer
Was it last season, or the season before (?) Don, who announced the show from his home in AZ, slipped and busted a hip. Darrell filled in for him. It was kind of creepy. I saw this coming as soon as I heard Don had passed. We will have to wait and see if Darrell does his Don or something more in line as a homage to Don.
Come to think of it, how is Darrell Hammond replacing Don's voice different from someone replacing Kermit's, Piggy's or Elmo's voice? It is a voice characterization.
Very true. But some how cos it was Jim's son who was the replacement it felt less ...forced or fakey. Tho I could usually hear the differences in Kermits. Elmo is such a "lil monster" voice any one could do it.
And The Simpson's have said they won't replace Marcia Wallace - voice Edna Krapapple -Flanders.
I think it's just cos he was a Player on the show and now he'll only be the announcer it just seems devolutional?
Again I'll hafta see how he plays it.

They have stated that he WON'T be doing a Pardo impression.
I think it would be great if he did a different celebrity voice for each episode - Trump, Clinton, Jesse Jackson, etc.
Hammond's other qualification is that, if we consider Pardon the longest running performer on the snow, Hammond is the second longest. The torch is being passed to the most immediate successor in that way.
Actually sabrelady it isn't Brian Henson that does Jims voice. It is Steve Whitmire.
Hmmm? wonder where I got that idea?
*in best Emily Latella voice"
"Oh well then that's different. Never Mind."
There was talk of Brian talking over in the beginning I believe. He just didn't sound enough like Jim. Besides Whitmire was sort ofannointed by Jim before he passed. It took a long while for Kermit to make an appearance but when he did it was Whitmire with his hand up Kermits Poop Shoot.
Says SNL's biggest die hard fan!
