am currently working on a group of plays by David Ives. The book is called Lives he Saints. I'm having a great time with the roles i've been given to play. One of them however is a bit hard for me to get into, and get a character, the title play "Lives of the Saints" is killing me mentally! I can not to save my life figure it all out. It's about two polish women making a Funeral breakfast for their friend Mary, In the basement of a catholic church in chicago. It's a comedy but its a subtle comedy. Flo and Edna (the two women) are making this HUGE breakfast for twelve people and they are making tons of food, and it get all sentamental towards the end. I think the biggest challenge for me it the fact that so many feelings are conveyed over such a short period of time in this play, not only that but the whole thing is pantamimed with sound effects being provided by visible men in alter boy outfits. Has anyone read the play or seen it done? Also the script is spelled out so you can sound out the words in the accent but i've never heard a polish accent in my life so I am very lost. Ok so if you got any of that.... help? I'm just extreamly frustrated with it if ANY of my rambling made sense to you, help please.
thanks so much you guys!

I studied some of David's one acts in h/s but am not familiar with the one you've mentioned. Perhaps you could ask your director for some input?

p.s. You may want to change your thread title to *dilemma*. When I first read it, I thought, wow, I've heard of David Ives but who is David Ives Delema? re: David Ives Delema
