I just received an autographed copy of Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. David is truly one of the funniest writers.
My favorite remains the Macy's story in Santaland Diaries
(And if there have been many other threads - so be it)
I just read Me Talk Pretty One Day.
It was good, but I don't think I want to read his other books quite yet...
David Sedaris is brilliant! I just read Me Talk Pretty One Day and Naked, and I've started Barrell Fever. I love his writing.
I tried reading Naked and didn't quite get into it. Will have to try again.
I love David Sedaris! So brilliant and funny.
And yes, Corduroy is no available in paperback.

Forget "reading" the books - get the AudioBooks and listen to Seadaris read them aloud! There's no beter way to make a long road trip fly by.
Sedaris reading "Six to Eight Black Men" from "Dress Your Family..." had me laughing hysterically - better than any stand-up comedian working today.
The first time I heard his impression of Billie Holiday singing commercial jingles in "Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities" from "Me Talk Pretty One Day", I nearly drove off the road!
He's fantastic. Saw him in Houston--he was soooo funny. He's such a cute little man.
NAKED is brilliant.
And, I came THIS close to being a SantaLand elf--I got a better job before elf training began. It would have been so fun to have experienced the Diaries for real.
I LOVE Me Talk Pretty One Day -He's an amazing writer.
santaland diaries was great.
"if you stand on the star and look through the little window, you can see cher!"
"i couldn't tell where the retarded people ended and the regular new yorkers began."

Ahh... I found an audiobook for NAKED a few days ago, but I didn't want to spend the $30 bucks. I love his book. I own all of them.
My favorite chapter is "next of kin" from NAKED.. and also, that chapter about his grandmother.
Me Talk Pretty One Day brought tears of laughter to my eyes!!!
Me Talk Pretty is my favorite of them all, especially "Shiner Like A Diamond."
And my favorite part of Santaland Diaries is the manager's words to a customer: "Don't tell the store manager I called you a b!tch, tell him I said you're a f***ing b!tch, because that's what you are."
He was in town in April and my mom and I saw him and got autographs after the show. He signed my copy of Me Talk Pretty with a drawing of Abe Lincoln and my copy of The Book Of Liz with "To Maris with a $incere feeling."

He sounds like a hoot! Amy talked shortly about when she was on Letterman a few months ago.
LOVE Sedaris....
Actually missed him (forgot, actually) just downstairs from my office at Coliseum Books a month ago! I was so mad at myself...I had picked up Holidays on Ice for him to sign...but have laughed out loud on the train reading it
