Did anyone else do it?
I will admit, it was quite fun walking down the street waving to people with a (quite large) rainbow flag sticking out of my back pocket....

I think this demonstration of solidarity is quite ingenious.

But

I can't shut up for 5 minutes, much less all day.

I talk in my sleep....

Could've told you that would happen, Liam. God, I don't miss that school at ALL. I haven't spoken to my brother yet, but I'll be sure to ask him about it.

Right, Liam. I spoke to my brother yesterday, and he said the administration was expecting it not to be too pretty. I wouldn't be surprised if people at least *tried* to start something.

Grr...somewhat on topic, but my friend James (who is gay) and did not participate in the activity today, just got this reply in his LJ (for the record, someone has been leaving anonymous comments just to prove themselves to be cool. The camel's back has broken):

" I hope by now you somewhat understand that not everybody likes you. Remember, today is the Day of Silence for all gay people, so maybe for once you'll shut your yapper."

GRR. That REALLY pisses me off that someone would say that about another person who've they never met! Agh. *goes off to search and kill*

"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled." (Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)

The towel waving reminded me of a Per?nist rally. I kept chanting "Evita!" whenever they'd pan to the crowds. - SM2

my school doesn't, but i didn't. i'd never be able to stay quiet for a whole day, and that'd probably disrespect someone.

plus its funny to see my friends talking to each other on scraps of paper. re: Day of Silence

I wish I woulda known about this beforehand... I would have tried. (prolly wouldn;t have gotten through a whole day cuz i can't shup up, but yeah...) But the thing is my school doesn't have a GSA. People have tried over and over to start one, but they never get approved. Stupid administration. So yeah. No one knew about it.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!
