The Monkees or Anne Murray?
The Monkees. Anne Murray sounds like she's trying to force some upbeat energy into the song and it's not working.
The Monkees, do doubt. Love them
Hands down...The Monkees !!!

"Hey hey we're the monkees! And people say we monkey around.... but we're too busy singing to put anybody down..."
Damn, I'm dating myself with that one lol
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Who owns the entire TV show series on DVD? *raises her hands*
Its all about The Monkees, I love them.

*GASP* I knew there was another underlying reason why we're friends!

Oh I love the Monkees, I always have. I've got the bobble head doll set, all the records, the CD compilations, I saw Davy Jones in a solo concert and then I saw the 3 of them (no nesmith) together three times...
Oh the best thing was at one of their concerts Barry Williams was the opening act and he did this HYSTERICAL take on eminem and sang "Will the real Greg Brady please stand up?" it was so awesome.

That show was cheesy even by Nick at Nite standards- not that I mind cheesy. There's a reason I was watching Nick at Nite in the first place. :P
Yep on this one it is the Monkees. Ms Murray's cover just does not come close the original!
CJR - haven't you mentioned on other threads that you're in your early 20's? I hardly think you were watching the original episodes.

Yeah, CJR, if you're "dated" the actual adults here must be dinosaurs.
being unfamiliar with the monkees rendetion - I happen to love the Anne Murry version - but then I have nothing to compare it to.
Oh redhotinnyc2, it's Davey Jones sining it!! (sigh!) There was also a rumor that none of them wanted to sing it and Davey lost the coin toss. But that could just be urban legend.
redhot, Davy was the cutest thing EVER. How did you miss out on him??
I admit I was not a davey jones fan...I've never been into the whole "twink" thing - give me a manly man anyday - you know, like Howard Keel in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - YUM...
The Murray rendition is proof that country music and 'ludes don't mix.
(But I still love Anne -- anyone ever see Varla J. Merman do her in his "lebisan du jour" cabaret act at the defunct "88s?" You had to be there.)

I saw the pre-Monkees Davy Jones as the Artful Dodger in the origianl Broadway cast of OLIVER in 1964. Eat your hearts out!
Well of course I preferred the "non-threatening" males...Davy Jones, David Cassidy, Tony DeFranco...
OMG! Auggie27! That is so funny. :)

Definitely The Monkees.
And, I saw them live, in person, at the height of their popularity. Talk about DATED. Damn!

Rathnait, that was too funny! You forgot to add Donny Osmond and Bobby Sherman to that list....LOL
And to answer the original thread's question:
THE MONKEES
Oh Sunfish might I add swooooooon
That's because I wasn't into them, Marquise. And as any self-respecting child of the 70's knows, you liked EITHER David Cassidy OR Bobby Sherman. Not both. Never, ever both.
