I looked up some titles and made a comparison with Amazon and at least for most TV-on-DVD, Amazon has them cheaper or they are only cheaper from Amazon by a couple bucks. I guess you really do save on the shipping, but Amazon offers free shipping once your order reaches $25.

The previous biannual DD sales were discounts on top of their regularly discounted prices; this time, the sale is 40% off DVD and BD list prices (and 30% off books and CDs). There do appear to be a few odd and ends that come up at a larger discount, though.
Someone on the DVDTalk forums posted these coupon codes for DD:

Also, Barnes and Noble is currently having a 50% sale on Criterion titles.

FYE has a ton of deals and discounts and sales as well with lots of relatively new releases (FROST/NIXON, MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, BABY MAMA, etc) at 7.99 and a lot of Blu-Rays at 9.99. They also have an amazing buy-one get-one for tv on dvd, you can get Season 1 and 2 of MAD MEN for less than $50.
