It happened Monday but still of interest ( at least to me)
Diana
Hmm. I'm betting she won't come.

"Diana, mind you, has no intention of attending, but she does want the invitation because she wants acknowledgment from the makers of a film that's obviously based upon her and the SUPREMES."
Her non-attendance is a given.
I'm intrigued by how much talk there has been about the Supremes around this project. It seems to me that, back in the day, while everyone had THOUGHTS on the subject, it wasn't actually supposed to be TALKED about.

Diana Ross made a big thing out of refusing to see the Broadway version (or at least announcing that she wouldn't). If she had, she'd have realized it actually waters down several of her real-life flaws.
Haha, I have to stop skimming through articles.
Yeah?
Where's Mary Wilson's invitation, or Cindy Birdsong's?
(Lorell an Michelle, respectively.)
I hear they are gonna dig up Florence Ballard.
What about Florence Ballard (isn't she sort of the loose base for Effie?)?
N/M. Just googled her and found her date of death.

you should read Mary Wilson's book..gives some real insight into Ms. Ross.

I think Miss Ross wishes Dreamgirls were more about her and the Supremes. Her refusal to see the show on stage or on film is no big deal. I am sure she is sick of being asked all about the comparisons and it must be really hard for her right now considering her last tour was a bust and she has not done much lately. Of course I remember standing in Central Park and listening to her belt out one of the signature songs from the show explaining that "It's about these three girls from the projects...".
I just hope the movie helps her with a comeback. i saw her in concert a year ago and she was wonderful.

DAME - I think a come-back should be due to her own merits and not on something she denies or even has nothing to do with unless it serves her purpose. I love her to death - but if she wants to tour again, she needs to get her ass into the studio and crank out something new and something that is her own.
"Honee...Miss Ross would never put up with this. She'd leave the stage, throw some kind of sh*t fit and take off in a HELICOPTER!"
Cheeze,
i agree with you 100 %. I guess it is just wishful thinking on my part. I would love to see her in concert one more time.
I CAN'T STAND her and her diva self. I never really liked her to begin with, but when I saw something on television a few years ago where she said she would not show up at the VH1 DIVAS LIVE show unless she was the only one on the red carpet when she arrived . . . well, that sealed her fate for me.
That is to bad Spider. Her last concert was amazing. She sang non stop over two hours. We met her at the Arclight cinemas ( on mothers day) and she and her daughters could not have been nicer or sweeter.
Anyone remember "Swept Away" her BET-staple circa 1984, written by Daryl Hall and based on...yes, the movie, SWEPT AWAY?
Well, I am not going do deny that she has a good voice (because she does), I just don't like the diva attitude she constantly shows off . But, that is great that she was as sweet as you say when you met her.
I like the attitude to be quite honest. I do think it is all a act and a feeder throughout the years to rumor mills. She made it work for her.
She should do Vegas.
I love her 70's Live from Caesars concert. I think I will pop the video in.
