Posted: 1/17/07 at 11:50amHer CD which was released yesterday is an absolute disappointment. All covers - nothing new - and not good arrangements either. Maybe next time Miss Ross.

she was very awkward to watch, and was quite a biatch when it came to the Dreamgirls.
get over it, D.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:00pmsame thing she said on Letterman last night. "I'll see it with my lawyers".

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:00pmWhat did she say about Dreamgirls? And maybe I am in the minority, but I think she has a little bit of a right to be less than happy about the Dreamgirls movie. I don't know what else they could have done to make Beyonce look and seem like Diana. I think she probably deserved some royalties or something.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:07pmSo - do you think Queen Elizabeth got royalties (no pun intended) for Mirren's portrayal? Permission maybe -

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:44pmThe problem with all this is she doesn't own "The Supremes," does she?

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:52pmHelen Mirren never once reminded me of Queen Elizabeth.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 1:59pmThe seeing it with her lawyers thing was a joke. She was actually very supportive. You people are too much.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 2:01pmDAME - Have you heard the CD yet? There are only two tracks that I like. I was really hoping for a decent showing with a tour - but I don't see it happening.

I haven't heard the cd. I saw her tour at the Pantages two years ago. It was excellent. She sang EVERYTHING.
I just find it humorous how people on this board are so blatant about taking a comment out of context and running with it.

Yeah - just like the media, go figure!
I have seen Miss Ross four times in concert, including the rained out Central Park concert and she is incredible. However - her last tour did not sell enough tickets to keep her alive - and all three of the shows were cancelled here in the bay area.
I will be interested to hear your comments once you hear the disc. I also bought the new Nancy Wilson CD at the same time - much better - highly recommend it.

Steve saw her on DL last night, said the singing was horrible, and she didn't move much while singing, just kinda moved her arms, swayed a bit.
He also said she wasn't nasty about Dreamgirls.
He did say it's time for her to stop performing.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 2:19pmBy her last tour do you mean the "Return To Love Tour Supremes thing" ? because her very last solo tour which was two years ago was a complete sell out. She only played theaters and smaller venues.

Yes - and THAT was such a fiasco they would not book her here in San Francisco or Oakland at all for the small venue show. She tried to get into the Herbst and The Paramount and was told sorry. I don't think her people actually paid the bills from the "Return" losses in Oakland - not her fault, but it's her name.
I am seeing Dionne Warwick at the Herbst this Saturday - that would have been an ideal venue for Ross.
