That the record for longest run of a film at a single theater, is SOUTH PACIFIC, which ran for an astonishing 230 weeks at The Dominion Theatre, in London?
The US record, is 133 weeks, for THE SOUND OF MUSIC, at the Loma Theater, in San Diego.
The record for longest run of a film (across theaters) is 252 weeks for THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

Hasn't The Rocky Horror Picture Show been shown every night in the same movie theatre in Germany since 1976?

Posted: 1/4/07 at 3:28pmPerhaps I should have worded it differently. The stats I'm referring to are those for first run films, which played in their original release theaters. The stats don't include midnight showings, or theater changes or secondary runs or anything like that. I remember PINK FLAMINGOS running for years and years at midnight showings in Philadelphia. Of course, that didn't play continuously, every day. It was just weekends. I don't believe any film compares to ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW for theatrical runs. However, RHPS didn't have any record-breaking runs at any of its first run theater venues.
