"While it is unlikely that sucralose is as toxic as the poisoning people are experiencing from Monsanto's aspartame, it is clear from the hazards seen in pre-approval research and from its chemical structure that years or decades of use may contribute to serious chronic immunological or neurological disorders."
I am a diabetic and have found Splenda to be wonderful. I was first diagnosed 23 years ago and all that was around for a sweetner was saccarine. Completely bitter.
"Friends are the people you chose as family."....Me.
Yes yes yes it's all going to kill you. Cyclamates, Saccharine, Aspertame, Splenda, Cell Phones, Electric power lines, Loud disco music, Sitting too close to the TV--
We all have to die some day and I want to do it with a Diet Coke in my hand. And, FYI I have been hearing the Aspertame crap for ten years now. I am totally a test case- I drink about a gallon of diet Coke a day and I'm fine. Some people have deathly reactions to Peanuts-- does that mean the rest of us shouldn't have access to them?
JoeKv - you speak the truth - I have more aspartame in me than most lab rats - Diet Coke is my drug of choice... two liter bottle a day - and that's just at work...
BTW - tried the new splenda version today - I'm hoping it was a bad batch, cause it tasted "off" - not bad, just not as refreshing or something...
How's this Lime version? I bought a 12 pak this afternoon...?
To throw more fuel in this fire, some people believe the popularity of carbonated caffinated drinks in the last several generations may be the reason why this generation of seniors has more osteoporosis (sp?)than any other generation. It eats at the bones and calcium intake cannot fight the degeneration.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
sheesh... I was just throwing it out there. One can do whatever one wants... hell, I smoke the occassional cigarette... people have been misled that splenda is natural, which it isn't. It's a chemical. As such, no one knows the effect it can have on your body in the long run. On the short run, I get dizzy and pretty bad headaches, so I avoid it. Remember cigarettes were once said to be "healthy".

I think fans of Coke will love Diet Coke with Splenda. I think fans of Diet Coke will not be as likely to.
Coke tastes sweeter than aspartame Diet Coke--a flavor us Diet Coke addicts all had to get used to and then loved. I am betting that Splenda Diet Coke tastes more like Coke.
I love Splenda. It's a blessing as anything I have used it in tastes sinfully good--as if sweetened by real sugar.
I'm just glad I gave up soda before the companies decided to start screwing with everything. I was up to 8 Diet Cokes a day and I was only 14- that's a bad sign.
My friend was another Diet Coke addict and when someone claimed that NutraSweet caused cancer, she told them that her mother had died 6 months earlier of breast cancer and never drank Diet Coke. She had just come to accept that ANYTHING will cause cancer, so there's no use in denying yourself in life to avoid the inevitable.

It's all the chemical **** in our lives combined that's made cancer more common. It's worse if you live in farm areas because they use everything short of radioactive waste for pests and weeds.
There's also certain genetic predispositions that make it more likely, and in the case of cervical cancer, a virus.
I recall when Atkins was at its peak, and so was mad cow disease and one woman said "I'd rather run the risk of having issues when I'm old than getting fatter now", or something to that extent.
I wonder how huge I'd be if not for Diet Coke and fat-free frozen yogurt.
