Digital cable box question

That's odd...most digital boxes don't turn themself off. Mine stays on until I turn it off. I can set it to turn itself on at the same time I have the VCR come on. Better yet, get a DVR and ditch the VCR's.

Have you called your cable company to ask them?

I have roommates and we're all in this cable thing together, so that's what I do.

But thanks, Albin, I checked how to set a VCR timer on the cable box and it seems to have worked!

Some of what you say may be true, Albin, but I know for a fact NOT ONE Cable Company has DVRs available with built-in TiVo capabilities...

As for the storms, it Thunderstorms in Dallas all of Jan. and Feb. and I lost reception from my dish twice. For thirty minutes each time.

(And if it did become a major headache, I could get a larger dish from DIRECTV).


When I last had cable, it was through Comcast. Their customer service and channel selection (NO Soapnet!) was horrendours.

If you have iO Digital Cable, sometimes the box turns itself off. If that happens, just turn it back on. I tried to fix mine, but no luck. I suppose it just turns on and off periodically. I'm telling you, it runs on Windows. It just suddenly crashes out of nowhere.
