Anyone else get annoyed with the new commercials that have someone very similar to the Dire Straits singing
"I want my MPG"
I would be bad enough if was an Apple commercial, and it was an MP3 - but mileage?
Anyone know if they had the rights to that song, or if someone else owned it and licensed it?
It pisses me off everytime I hear it.

Actually, not all sell out, and when they do, they usually limit to non-US countries.
Bette Midler actually sued when they used a song she sang (but did not own) and they they had someone impersonate her voice.
It depends on whether Dire Straits owns the song.

my favorte was getting a chance to see the nissan x-terra ad that used the first few chords of velvet underground's heroin. it was on for maybe two days before they realized what song they were using and it went poof.
i'd be shocked if they didn't hold the rights to it, though.
