I know they have to pump all the contaminated water out of the city, but is it really a good idea to pour it back into the lake? Hmmm...
I don't think even a lake that size could survive the horrors they are introducing into it.

PEACE.

Interesting thought - but god knows what's been dumped in there already. Over a LONG period of time.

The water definitely has toxins in it, but there's really not much to be done about that right now.

Yes, but the creatures that live there have had time to adjust to the pollution that has been introduced over the years. All this contamination at once will just kill just about everything in there.

Here's the choice- leave the water all over the city of New Orleans, or kill off all the lake life. It's a horrible situation, but what would you propose?

But Sueleen, that's why god gave us dominion over the earth - so we could do what we want with impunity.

I certainly don't have the answers, I was just asking the questions...I is a no win situation, that is for sure.

Despite whatever optimistic thoughts there are floating around, I can't see that area being really viable for quite some time. And the lake will just be a part of that disturbance.

However, I don't underestimate the power of nature to 'right what has been made wrong'.

And another thing...is there any concern that the pressure of all this water being pumped back in at such a high rate could compromise some of the other levies weakened by the storm?

I'm sure they'll study that and see what's up. If it there's any chance of more flooding, I doubt they'll do it.

But I wouldn't know anything about that.
