"What this means for gay couples everywhere is that both fathers will now be able to contribute DNA to their child and no donated egg will be required. Infertility specialists will soon be able to take the skin cells of one father, extract what scientists call induced pluripotent stem cells, and create a human egg that contains only his DNA. The egg would then be fertilized in vitro with the sperm of the other dad and implanted in a surrogate. (Yes, a borrowed womb would still be necessary, but can that discovery be long in coming?) Although, there is no report of such an experiment being undertaken to date, presumably lesbian couples could also use the discovery to both become DNA donors to a baby, with one woman donating an egg and using the other mother’s stem cells to make sperm."
It's a little dense but I had to post this. It's amazing news, friends. Scientific advancement happening all around us.

No.
Just no.
Next thing you know you'll have Build A Baby stores in malls across America.
This probable technology has been around and talked about for a years. Female couples would always produce a female child. I wonder if it is the same for men? It hasn't actually been done yet, as far as they are saying.
As much as I would love our next child to not require a donor and be 50/50 us, I don't think I would be too comfortable with it. That's just too much intervention for me. And can you even fathom the cost?!
sounds like Orphan Black!
jg2, you would think so. If there is no female DNA, the mens' baby would be a boy right?
Men have xy chromosomes. I believe it would be possible for the two X's to pair up and for them to have a girl. Since women are XX there is no Y for them to have a boy.
What I find fascinating is the suggestion that a person could reproduce on his or her own. Of course, that wouldn't be recommended as it would take inbreeding to a whole new level, but it's still amazing to think that through technology a human being could asexually reproduce a human being (not a clone of him or herself but a child).
