I didn't care so much for the last film but Ian McShane might be exactly what the series needs.

Depp has said that Rob Marshall had a new take on it. I didn't see the third installment, but if anyone can get me to see this is Rob Marshall *cue bad jokes about everything happening in Jack Sparrow's mind* I'm also incredibly excited about the fact a new role that's supposed to be as relevant as Sparrow is going to be written for Penelope Cruz who must be my favorite actress her age working today along with Kate Winslet.

The casting of both Cruz and McShane are inspired and my reservations about another sequel diminish with every announcement. Only thing I'm afraid of is that Barbossa/Geoffrey Rush is not involved as initially planned. He hasn't shown up on any of the press releases since Cruz was announced, but I'm crossing my fingers for his return. His dynamic with Jack is priceless.
