It appears that the powers that be at Disney have decided that the success of "Tangled" is attributed to them changing the classic fairy tale title "Rapunzel" to something more neutral and non-gender specific, and have thus decided that their next animated fairy tale adaptation, based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen", shall hence forth be known as "Frozen". The film is slated for release November 2013.

I guess I was expecting this to happen after Tangled outperformed The Princess and the Frog in box office numbers, and while I was initially pissed off about Tangled, the actual movie was still pretty great, so I'm just gonna wait and see what the actual movie is like before judging it. Still, I can't help but let out a disappointing sigh.

Perhaps to help appeal to boys they could get Arnold to voice the Snow Queen and reuse all of his puns from Batman and Robin: http://youtu.be/SRH-Ywpz1_I

Is this still the version that Japanese Sondheim director Ayama Miyamoto (who also did the bizarre Japanese Nutcracker with LaChiusa) worked on with Menken? It was meant to be a Tokyo Disney stage show and then they deemed it too dark? The demos I heard were really beautiful and subtle (which this title change doesn't seem to keep with but...)

Ugh.
