Anyone else falling in love with this film again? I highly recommend it on Blu-ray (it came with a DVD too but I haven't had a chance to watch it). Can't wait to see how Pinocchio looks next month!

Posted: 2/17/09 at 9:02amI saw it, and I was really blown away. It's such a different artistic style from any other Disney film-- I love the way it looks like stained-glass windows. I haven't watched it since I was six or seven, so I was really surprised by how much I liked it!

Posted: 2/17/09 at 9:07amIt really is unique in many of its animations. It's never been one of my favorites but I have a new appreciation for it now.

It's absolutely stunning. I can't wait for my other Disney favorites to be released on Blu-Ray.
This is what real animation was all about...made by people, not computers.

As wonderful as the disc presentations are, they can't compare to seeing it on a big screen. In celebration of the digital restoration, they had a two-week special showing in 70mm at the El Capitan in Hollywood. We went twice

Entirely hand painted, before the days of xerox, before the days of CGI. Films of this scale will never be made this way again.
I actually have seen Sleeping Beauty in 70mm at a film festival in Madrid. But it's great that these classics are coming out in Blu-ray - to have them in your own home in a high quality transfer.
