The AP has received documents regarding the death of US Soldier Pat Tillman. The white house first announced that he had been killed by enemy fire, then admitted it was a "Freindly Fire" accident. These documents show it was a murder, with Tillman being shot at close range with no evidence of any enemy activity. Even more damning: "Army attorneys sent each other congratulatory e-mails for keeping criminal investigators at bay as the Army conducted an internal friendly-fire investigation that resulted in administrative, or non-criminal, punishments." Bush is invoking Exceutive priviledge to block the release of any further documents.
Meanwhile, A Special Prosecutor seems to the only way to get to the bottom of Alberto Gonzales Congressional testimony after his account of meetings regarding so-called "Warrentless wrietapping" was directly challenged by the head of the FBI. Also under scrutiny was sworn testimony in April in which he declared that he had not spoken with other witnesses in the investigation. He acknowledged to lawmakers Tuesday that he had spoken with a top aide, Monica M. Goodling, about the firings but denied trying to affect her testimony. She has testified that he WAS directing her to lie to congress.
Then there's the US Attorney firings. Congress' seven month investigation raises "serious concerns" that senior White House and Justice Department aides obstructed justice and violated federal statutes that prohibit political retaliation against government officials The Washington Post reported Wednesday. Karl Rove will be subpoened to testify before congress, setting up speculation that he might fail to appear like former White House Aide Harriet Miers did. E-mails and documents released by the Justice Department show the White House and other administration officials were more involved in the dismissals, and much earlier, than they had acknowledged.
Meanwhile, Bush linked Saddam Hussein, Iraq and Al Queda in a speech given July 24th, despite all evidence to the contrary. Kevin Sullivan, the White House communications director, said the speech was devised as a “surge of facts” to rebuild support for the war in Iraq.

"Do you ever wonder if your government is lying to you?"
Daily.
I don't wonder. I take it as a given.
I would have phrased it, "Do you ever wonder when your government is NOT lying to you?"
