Documentary: THE CRUISE (1998)

Just watched the documentary THE CRUISE via Netflix Instant. It follows a Gray Line double-decker bus tour guide as an attempt to gain some insight and perspective into his outlook on life.

The subject of this doc is one of the most fascinating gentlemen. His knowledge and vocabulary contrast his appearance and personality in such a perfectly blended way that it's no surprise he is a New Yorker. One might call him an outcast, however that impression changes an hour into the film.

This movie was shot in August 1998. There are two segments that involve the World Trade Center towers. One of those segments is towards the end of the film. And it is beautiful.

I highly recommend this one. Netflix Instant through April 13.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
