Does Anyone Have Any Idea What May Be Wrong With My Ipod?

I had an old iPod. It was fine, except the battery became worse. All of a sudden it erased all my files on the iPod when I connected it one day and said, whenever I connected it:
"iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
It kept on saying that whenever I connected, even when I restored. And I lost all my files, though they are still on iTunes. Anyways...
My iPod was outdated and old, so I bought a new one off eBay, a video iPod. I just got it today, and connected it to my computer. First I had to restore it so it was compatible with Windows. I did that. Then that same "corrupted" message popped up every time I try to connect it with iTunes.
I found out that the warrenty expires in August, so I have a few months left. I called Apple Support and was on the phone with them for about an hour. All the lady told me to do was change the letter for the hard drive name for the iPod. I changed it from "E://" to "L://" Supposedly, this was going to make it work. Well, this same corrupted message still shows up.
Has this happened to anyone else? I have a feeling it's not the iPod, because why would it happen to both of them (unless I just have extremely bad luck)? I'm going to try to connect it to another computer after, but I really want to know what's going on with mine. I'll also be going to an Apple Store later. Until then, I'm freaking out because I really want to listen to my iPod!!!

Did you upgrade to the latest itunes?
Make sure that you make an appointment at the Genius Bar so that they'll take you with a reasonable wait. Good luck.

I upgraded. Still didn't work.
I'm on my way to the Apple Store now.
What exactly is the Genius Bar? I heard about it...you can't just walk in?
Also, my iPod is under warrenty till August...it had some of the warrenty left.

If you go to the apple soho, you can put in what time you want to be there, there are a zillion people with malfunctioning mac lap tops.
Hope they can help you.

Posted: 5/12/07 at 5:39pmThe Genius Bar is the place at the store where they help you; it's for computers, but then there's also the iPod Bar. I think that's what it's called. You can just walk in, but you might have to wait a while. If you go online, you can make an appointment in advance; how far in advance depends on what kind of warranty you have.

clearly your ipod has evolved and reached consciousness. it has evidently decided that it doesn't like you. your first step should be to make sure that when you sleep that the ipod is in secure place where it cannot interact with other electronic devices to assure that it doesn't teach them what it has learned nor use its newfound power to take you out in your sleep. if you cannot reason with it, i suggest making small sacrifices to win its favor. start with something simple like a matchbox car and if necessary work your way up to a a wristwatch or a batter powered alarm clock. it's imperative that you not let it interact during this period with any connected electronic devices. if you cannot win its favor, then you can try depriving it of energy as a means of showing it who's boss. it's entirely possible that none of these will work and the ipod will have to be destroyed for the good of humanity.
the lesson to learn from this is to avoid the kind of music that you put on this one.

Well, I went to the Genius Bar. The first time I went, the guy said the iPod seemed to be fine, and that it was probably just bad software.
Well, I couldn't get it to work on other people's computers, so I brought it back today.
It has a failed hard drive. This is the last time I get anything extremely expensive off of eBay. I filed a claim.
