That photo of the cute sailors in Italy was taken in front of the Memorial to Victor Immanuel. It's the monument that the Italians refer to as "The Wedding Cake".

The sadistic side of me was quite pleased as I watched this band of students from the US get hailed on as the played in the main square of Prague's Old Town.

Of course, I got hailed on too...

But that's not the point!

Well I'm afraid that's the end of them for tonight.

I'll come back to the thread after I finish photoshopping some more, or download my newer photos from my camera...

Yes.

One day in Athens was NOT nearly enough.

Athens, to this day, is one of my favorite cities. I spent 3 months there as a teenager living with a family. I'd love to go back sometime soon.

Doxie, dear......how far (timewise) are those famous salt mines (in Poland) from Prague? It appears we have to spend more time in Europe in July than I originally thought........to be able to use free miles.

Elphaba, the salt mines are just outside Krakow. I've never gone from Krakow to Prague, but I can't think it would be any more than 7 or 8 hours. From Wroclaw it is about 5 hours, and that is the way I went.

If you don't have the time to get to Krakow, go to Wroclaw. It's a BEAUTIFUL city, and a lot of people there speak German. It was Breslau until 1945, and the loss of this city was the greatest loss of any territory to the German state post WWII...
