Not being able to sleep, sitting in front of my computer working on some tour updates for BWW and thinking about what I am doing tomorrow, I began to think...think of how thankful I am...
When I was growing up, who would have guess I would have such a passion for theatre when I was about to enter my senior year of high school? Not me. Who would have guessed I would be such a motivated person with so many goals? Not me. When I was that age, I insisted to my mother that I would go to Kent State University and never leave home. Who could leave their home? Now, I don't see how I could stay home...I need to follow my dreams. Sitting in the front row of Footloose in Cleveland, December of 1998...I knew nothing about theatre. Tomorrow night, I will be watching the tour of Hairspray from the orchestra pit.
Tonight I came home from working on a production of Rocky Horror at a theatre I started working at in November...wanting to learn more by professionals, other than teaching myself everything at a local community theatre (which was a great way to start). Now I am about to design a show there...thanks to my motivation and drive.
A show's lighting I helped create is going to be featured by the same lady who interviews Broadway performers and reviews shows in the local paper and will grace the cover of the Arts/Living section this week.
Last summer, I fianlly attended a summer camp where I had fun! A theatre camp...this year I was put on the waiting list for another.
I know what I want to do with my life and where I want to take it and that makes me so happy! I couldn't be happier. Sure life is tough for me right now...living with my grandma (whom I love), not having a room of my own to hang up posters...but I couldn't ask for any other life.
Thank YOU, BroadwayWorld, for helping me learn who I am...for connecting me to professionals in the business...for giving me a place to talk with people who feel the same way I do now. These are some of my only theatre friends and I don't know what I would do without you guys.
