Nearly ended up in a ditch on my turnabout...and still passed

Don't worry about it JakeB. My friend took three goes and yet she's one of the best drivers i know! I know someone who drove the wrong way up a one way street on a test... someone drove over a roundabout lol!
What did you do on your tests that made you fail, Jake, I go on Thursday to get mine.
I had a disgruntled Australian man giving me my test. He barked orders at me. I did pass my first time, though.
I signed up for Parent Taught Driver's Ed.
My parents never taught me a thing.
The only test I had to take was a written test for my permit with questions like "If you drink alcohol it will: a) impair your ability to drive b) improve your ability to drive or c) make your parents happy.
Then on my 16th Birthday I just went to the DMV and got my license.
Never had to take an actual driving test.
And, now, 11 months later, I still haven't gotten in one wreck or gotten a single ticket.
THAT's the way to do it if you ask me.

Failed my first, got my second. I don't know how they do it in other states, but in Michigan you have to do 'the range' first. You have to stop, reverse park and parallel park. Let's just say I f'd the parallel parking up bad. And they didn't even let me out on the road. But yeah, I practiced a lot, and I got it the second time. With only 1 error.
Yay me!
Passed mine on the highway and streets of DOWNTOWN CHICAGO years ago but I swear I still don't know how to drive safely. In fact, I haven't had to drive in three years. But I just got my license renewed a few weeks ago...
Oh well. I'm moving to Manhattan anyway.

I'm just glad I didn't have to do the tests my parents did. My dad passed in Israel- think parking on an incline with stick shift. My mom learned in Southern California- 'nuff said. My test was a breeze by comparison, and I passed my first time.
Here's some advice for the written test. I have always gotten 100% on every one of mine.
Go to the DMV web site and take the practice test before going in and taking it for real. When you read the questions, read them slowly and at least three times before you answer. The questions can sometimes take on a whole different meaning with just one word. The biggest mistake paople make is they rush right through it.
READ SLOW AND RE-READ THE QUESTION 3 TIMES BEFORE ANSWERING.
It's always worked for me.

i just found my driving test results lol. I passed first time and only got 3 minors... ven though it should have been 2 but never mind. You can get 15 minors and pass i got mine for not knowing where the humidifier was (who calls the air con that seriously), inidcating too early and going too close to the stop line on the road.... THERE WERE NO ROAD MARKINGS! The instructor said he felt guilty giving me the minor and in the real world it was safe driving but he had to mark me down anyway... prat!
On my way to take my first driver's test, I hit a parked Fed Ex truck in the parking lot of the DMV. In front of a cop.
Then I had to wait for 3 hours in scorching August humidity, in my car with the engine off (no AC) to take my test. Clearly I couldn't parallel park in 2 minutes after all that.
When I went back a few months later, I hadn't driven in 8 months because I was away at school and I did it perfectly and got nothing marked off. I think I'm a great driver, because I haven't gotten into any accidents since then and I live outside DC, which is on record as having the worst drivers in America and the second worst gridlock. If I can hold my own against these nutcases, I'll be fine anywhere.
I failed two times, and passed my third time. The first time, I didn't judge my left turn properly. The second time, it was raining horribly and I couldn't see well and didn't know how to use my defroster. The third time, I bumped into a curb and couldn't back up in a straight line, or even park correctly, and the examiner passed me.

Orangeskittles, don't be too confident until you drive in places like Italy, Israel, or India. (What is it with "I" countries?)
I'm pretty sure the situation in that last country is so crazy that when you rent a car you automatically get a driver.
Plum, I was mainly referring to America, I don't plan on driving in any other countries anytime soon. And even then I plan on using public transportation.
Though, I have many Indian friends, and what they have to say about their country's transportation system has hardly been complementary

See, I have very little confidence in my driving skills even in the relatively nice parts of the suburbs. The thought of driving in Israel, where lane markings are taken as mere suggestions, is downright terrifying. :)
It really means nothing. I am a terrible driver (I'll be the first to admit it!), and I passed on my first try. I passed by a mere two points, and I drove on the wrong side of the road. Don't come to Ohio if you want to be safe!!!
Not to mention that right after the lady passed me, I gave her some good whiplash for accidently running over a giant curb and then braking really quickly.
I'm not as bad now...only when I have the showtunes on too loudly. I've been in only one accident, and it was not my fault.
I passed my first time, with an insane DMV clerk who felt the need to tell me all about the time she messed with some girl...not very interesting...
but I know a kid who failed because he was a boy. Yes...a boy. The DMV lady was like "I don't like boys. Boys are too cocky on the road.". So she failed him. So he went back in an hour and took it again and passed.

I was really nervous the whole time, going a bit too slow and everything. But other than that, it went well.
Until the end.
I heard the woman say, "You hit the curb, that's an automatic fail."
and I freaked out and started to cry.
But I didn't really hit the curb, she was warning me. The end.
Oh, and then I passed. But I failed my permit test the first time.

It sounds from this thread to be much harsher in Britain!
- Failed my first for speeding, 34 in a 30 zone.
- Second because the right signal going round a roundabout came off and I didn't put it back on.
- Third for changing lanes too early on a roundabout and moving in front of another car.
Wow, i'm taking mine next week. I livein Michigan so i'm prolly gonna fail it. but with me good luck! I'm really gonna need it. I'm a REALLY bad driver. LOL
im taking mine today. ::cries:: i better not fail!
