My first reaction, is absolute outrage for this unspeakable crime. On every level imaginable.

My second, relates to the indescribable stupidity. I can't help thinking, didn't they bother to realize not only that castrated boys can still be gay, but that the common wisdom, whether or not it was true, is that historically a great many eunuchs were in fact gay? Not to mention how, obviously, heterosexually challenged these boys would become as post-adolescents.

My third, is that rather than the church not realizing how idiotic it was in conceiving this as a "cure," it had instead deviously instituted a most vile method of deterring other boys from reporting abuse, thereby protecting future abusers and perpetuating a culture of abuse. Even if this had not been intentional, it certainly should have been understood to be the policy's clear result.

As I said absolute outrage, on every conceivable level.
